Years ago, I had a friend who lived in Linglestown who started trellising certain plants. I belive that's a recommendaiton of square foot gardening. Go up when you can't go out. The other thought is get creative -- plant vegetables where you least expect them. Maybe around the south-facing foundation of your house? or maybe around your mailbox or edge of property as a "fence" (corn makes a nice fence). I've even seen folks tear up their entire front yard for food production.
